According to Section 9 of the Law of Succession Act CAP 160, an oral will is only valid if it is made in front of two or more competent witnesses and the testator dies within three months of making the will. However, if the will is made by a member of the armed forces or merchant marine during active service, it remains valid even if the testator dies more than three months after making the will, as long as they die during the same period of active service.
