Bought a faulty product, now what?
I made a purchase for a mobile phone but later realized that it is faulty. What are my rights as a consumer in Kenya?

In Kenya, the rights of consumers who make purchase for faulty and defective products are protected by Consumer protection laws. According to the laws, all products sold by retailers should be fit for purpose and accurately described. For the effects of faulty consumer products, the law provides a variety of remedies depending on your situation.
When someone makes a purchase, he/she is automatically guaranteed the warranty rights to either a replacement, free repair or refund. This applies in cases where the device or product has not caused harm. An example is the above case of a mobile phone. If the retailer does not agree to repair, refund or replace the product, you can report the matter to the necessary authorities. This law does not apply in cases where the consumer has caused the defect.
