Section 96 of The Children Act CAP 141: Provision of Legal aid in certain cases

    

(1) Where a child who has not attained the age of sixteen is a complainant oris otherwise brought before a children’s Court in proceedings under this Act or any other written law, the Court shall, where the child is unrepresented, order that the child be granted legal representation in accordance with the Legal Aid Act (Cap. 16A).
(2) Any reasonable fees and expenses incurred in relation to the legalrepresentation of a child under subsections (1) or (2) shall be a charge on the Legal Aid Fund.
(3) Without prejudice to the generality of subsection (1), a child in conflict with the law shall be entitled to legal representation at the State’s expense.
