Section 850 of The Companies Act No. 17 of 2015: Preservation of original documents

    

(1) Subject to section 854(3), the Registrar shall keep the originals of documents lodged with the Registrar in hard copy form for not less than three years after they are lodged.
(2) After the end of that period, the Registrar may destroy or arrange forthe destruction of those documents, but only if the information contained in the documents has been recorded in the Register.
(3) The Registrar is under no obligation to keep the originals of documents lodged in electronic form so long as the information contained in them has been recorded in the Register.
(4) This section applies to documents held by the Registrar when this section comes into effect as well as to documents subsequently received.
